This Tweak Auto-Enables Do Not Disturb When Recording Your iPhone’s Screen

It’s a beautiful thing that Apple finally came to and brought native screen recording capabilities to the iOS platform. In fact, I still remember the not-too-distant past once you would’ve needed a jailbreak tweak or a disgraced App Store app to create this happen.

But as great as iOS’ native screen recording function is, there’s one significant caveat that bugs me, and a newly released and free jailbreak tweak dubbed DNDMyRecording by iOS developer gilshahar7 addresses it.

As you’ve probably inferred already from the tweak’s name, DNDMyRecording automatically toggles your handset’s don’t Disturb mode on whenever you initiate a screen recording. The goal is to stop incoming notifications from shooting up as your device’s display is being captured, and also the tweak was made in direct response to asking posted on /r/jailbreak.

This seeming no-brainer functionality is some things that Apple should have implemented out of the box, but alas, they didn’t. Without it, you have got two problems: 1) notification banners become a nuisance, shooting up over the recorded interface; and 2) notification privacy becomes compromised by the screen recorder.

DNDMyRecording is intelligent too – after you finish your screen recording, the tweak automatically returns don’t Disturb mode to the state it absolutely was in before you began recording your handset’s display. That said, if don’t Disturb Mode was turned off before you began recording, then the tweak turns it goes into reverse again when you’re done. Woohoo for no missed notifications!

One small note from the developer, however, is that you simply must have your don’t Disturb mode set to “Always” and not “Only while the device is locked.” If you decide on the latter option, then the tweak might not work as intended.

DNDMyRecording is a noticeable upgrade for your iPhone’s native screen recording functionality and is offered as a free download from the Packix repository via your preferred package manager. DNDMyRecording supports to jailbreak iOS 13 and 12 devices and is open-source on the developer’s GitHub repository for those inquisitive about learning what makes it tick.
